I want to use Application.GetOpenFilename in Excel VBA to open file and I want it to open in the same folder and ThisWorkbook.Path. I have found it in advance that I can do. I use GetOpenFilename because it was an example to use UNC URLs as I needed and from what I read you can not do that with ChDir or ChDrive with FileDialog. I have a code below but it does not work in the example above. A few suggestions on how to solve this will be appreciated in addition to forcing the user to enter a URL from the host letter. Inbox is usually not the best tool for this job but because most users find it difficult to remember paths backlinks file names and file names. Here it: Dim sOpenFile As a strict file to open ChDir will change the folder that the file is default to but only if it is in the same drive as the current default file.Starting a particular folder works if I call it before you call GetOpenFilename but I wonder if the window can be opened with the default file name in the folder.
